Anniston, Alabama

The cemetery was established in the 1830s.  It will be difficult to get a complete survey of all tombstones due to the overgrown nature of the cemetery, which has no perpetual care.  Several tombstones have been broken by fallen trees.  Individuals and construction companies have used the lower portion of the cemetery near the railroad tracks as a dumping ground.  Wayside church members maintained the cemetery until they became too old.  The city and county determined that the cemetery was privately owned by the Kirby family.  Descendants were found in Atlanta, Georgia.  The cemetery is located on Highway # 202 in the Wellborn community).

Thomas Hawkins Kirby's parents were John Kirby and Jane Adair (Addair).  Nancy Caroline Kirby died on March 8, 1866; she is buried by her husband in Pine Grove cemetery in Anniston.
